Hello Peeps,

As always, I write to you amidst a flurry of to-dos for Strange Folk! I’m happy to say though, that after 6 months of preparations, I feel the calm before the storm is beginning. Hopefully I will actually have time to make things to sell at my own craft show :p

At this stage in the game we are assualting your senses with a technocolor ad campaign of unprecedented proportions. It ran for a week in August, and will run again now until the 21st. If you missed our recent ad in their Fall Arts Guide pull-out, you’ll have another chance in next week’s issue.

We were also written up in the September issue of Sauce! Check us out the Art Essentials section. That’s 2 highly circulated free publications down… now we are just waiting on some BND and Post-Dispatch love.

We appeared on their team blog page today, and will once again before the festival. If you make stuff, and haven’t heard of Etsy…geeet over there and check it out!

Etsy is the internet nerve center of all things handmade, and its always the first place I send budding craftsters to test the water of selling their product. The fabulous Lauren a.k.a. stellaloella and I (stringtheory) co-organize Etsy-Lou, the St. Louis Etsy Street team. Our mission is to help promote Etsy and it’s sellers through local events and media. If you are an Etsy seller and haven’t joined yet, give us a holla!

Our first official meeting will take place this Thursday, June 21st from 7-9 p.m. at a location TBA (yes, very soon of course!). Don’t miss it if you wan to get involved!

This is your Captain speaking, and I’m so excited that it’s time to start taking applications for 2007!

Thanks to everyone for being patient with the website, and I’m loving the enthusiasm. Due to the overwhelming response to last year’s event, and this year’s mailing list, we decided to start taking apps later and for less time this year. One of the many bright sides is that we’ll announce entire line-up of vendors a month earlier than last year. Another change is that we will no longer be distributing/accepting print applications. Lets just say I need some sleep form time to time and the only way to do that is to cut a few accomadations, because I’m not cutting corners.

Some of you might be aware that 50 leaders of the indie craft community were chosen to attend Craft Congress in Pittsburgh this spring, and I was one of them!

That’s me next to the pink haired gal (Michelle from Pretty Crafty Things, UK), and Ariel from DE-Part-Ment, Chicago. We came from far and wide to discuss our shows and where the indie craft movement is headed.

So, I’m chock full of information and ideas for this year’s Strange Folk. One is a nice weather machine if I ever get that quantum fluctuation bug in it fixed. Otherwise, I’ll start posting tidbits of what’s going on as things materialize. For starters, we have a new look…what do you think?
