a. modern is a team of two sisters from St. Louis, Missouri. We make anything from buttons & baby gear to paintings & pillows for your home.

I make sock-animals (dogs, monkeys, pigs, rabbits), baby clothes, accessories, and other goodies from only non-animal based ingredients. I believe strongly in the kind treatment of all living beings and my products embody that belief.

Art Again
I began as a potter. I found that I could incorporate things like auto glass, stones, metals into the clay for interesting effects. I expanded my search for "found art" items and began to create mosaics on mirrors, doors and furniture.

A girl can never have too many purses. I started out making them just for me but felt compeled to share the bag love. I try to use every inch of fabric, using scraps for headbands, small bags and other sewn goods.

The majority of what I make is hemp. I use some pretty rad and unique beads and found some awesome dragon, mushroom, peace sign, etc. pendants. I do this because I love to create art. The plus of it being jewelry is that other people can wear something unique and original rather than something that hundreds of other people already bought(and isn't handmade!!!)
