Strange Folk Festival 2016: Belle Epoque
is in the making this summer.
Strange Folk Festival has been St. Louis’s most popular indie craft show for over 10 years featuring 200 curated makers from all over the country, 10 live bands, whimsical installations, DIY activities and 30,000 people having a hella good time.
In 2015, Strange Girl in Charge, Autumn Wiggins, moved Strange Folk from O’Fallon, IL to Union Station in Downtown St. Louis, filling it’s empty shopping mall with small businesses and people one more time before renovations began.
We will be going back outside at Lafayette Square in 2016! This year’s theme is “Belle Epoque,” French for “Beautiful Era.” It’s meant to be a positive jolt for the city of St. Louis and a fresh artistic direction that Autumn and the production team will be exploring. We’re excited to tell stories through images, words, and music on this theme as the festival is built throughout the summer and to get everyone participating in some #CivicHacking with us.
As always, Strange Folk is a completely unique and hand-built production. We could use some extra hands, so get on our volunteer list now to be alerted to opportunities that might interest you!
